England – Denmark

England welcome Denmark for the second semifinal of the Euro 2020, the hosts heavy favourites to make it to the finals.  England had an easy route in this edition’s Euro, a German team in decline probably the best opponent they faced so far but take nothing away from this young team that kept clean sheet for a 5th consecutive match in the competition after thumping Ukraine 4-0 in the quarter final.

The Danes made a slow start to the tournament after losing star player Christian Eriksen and only made it to the knockouts on the back of a solitary win against Russia. Since then, there performances have been nothing less than spectacular to see off Wales 4-0 and a resilient Czech Republic 2-1 in the quarter finals.

Southgate has no injury concerns and could stick with the same eleven that thrashed Ukraine, while both Yussuf Poulsen and Daniel Wass played some minutes in the win against Czech Republic, though the later may settle for the bench. Meantime, Poulsen is expected to start instead of Dolberg.

There is little to separate as the teams share 3 wins and a draw from their last 7 head-to-head meetings across all competitions. Our prediction is for an England victory and under 2,5 goals.
